Sunday's ride 12-11-11

Hi again VYCyclers,

 

Well it is almost Sunday and we are raring to go..Aren't we???

Due to the Candlelight Ball that some of you and myself are attending on Saturday night ..I thought a later ride might be just the ticket..SO lets meet at Nokomis beach at 9:30 and ride the key to the end then over the bridge to either the fish house or Bentleys depending on our timing..It is about a 12 mile easy trip and is a good time for those of you that we haven;t seen for a while to join in!

For those wishing a longer trip I will be riding from home and will meet you along the way to the beach. Just let me know.

I look forward to warm breezes,sunny skies and all your smiling faces!

Congratulations to all who took the challenge "over the top and end to end"...It was some ride!!!

It worked perfectly for our most advanced riders and those who preferred a shorter trip..Twenty eight miles for some and twenty for others.And the bridge!!! Quite a bit steeper than many had thought ..but we all made it over!!

Enjoy the next two weeks and I will keep you posted on our next trip..

Hello all VYCyclers,

Hope you are all enjoying a great feast with friends and family..but get ready 'cause here we go!!!

This Sunday Nov 27 we are taking it end to end and over the top!

We will meet at Shamrock Park at 9 AM and ride to the train station then over there bridge and on to the end of the trail.

This is the trip we have been waiting for and finally the challenge is here.

We will go all the way to the end of the trail and back to Left Coast for lunch.

The entire ride will be 28 miles ..Are you up for it ??..let me know asap!

And for those of you who wish only an 18 mile ride please join us too.

Park at Left Coast (just under the new overpass bridge) and meet us at 9;30 we should be coasting by at that time..As a matter of fact grab a camera and get some pics of us coming down!

We will meet up and continue from there having lunch on the return.

I sure missed the last ride and am anxious to see you all on SUnday!

Well it has been an exciting Sunday for sure!!
Congratulations to those who rode today. Uphill and into the wind for sure. No matter which way we went the wind was pumping in our faces!! Yet we managed to get 15 miles in!
The big surprise was the scavenger hunt ..it just didn't happen ..again..Maybe it has a Halloween curse!
But our small group pulled it together and made a great trip from BIll's Beer Run on Casey Key to our inaugural ride over the bypass. Take a look at the pictures on our facebook page.
Our next ride will be in 3 weeks and I will keep you posted on the next exciting route!!

WIND ALERT!!!!!

Hi VYCyclers,

 

I am officially canceling the ride tor tomorrow Oct 9 at 9:30 AM,

It is not a fear of getting wet but more a fear of pedaling forward and going backward!!

Winds are predicted at 25 knots with higher gusts..so no go for this week.

I think this is the first tropical wind cancellation.

I will reschedule for next Sunday.

What does Sunday hold for us??

Doesn't look like we'll be biking over the new bridge for a few weeks.
The official opening is now Nov 5. I will keep you informed as to the festivities..
In the mean time lets hope the weather will cooperate so we can take a late start run up Casey Key.
We will be meeting at 9:30 at Nokomis Beach and lunching at the Casey Key Fish house.
Hope for dry and calm and I will see you all there!
Watch for last minute cancelation by email if necessary!!

Next ride "over the top"

I am looking forward to our next ride . We will be meeting at the Venice Train Station Sunday Oct 9  at 8:30 AM and ride the trail "over the top" on the new overpass bridge. Off to Central Sarasota Pkwy and on to brunch. I will send out  details later. Please post your comments .. And lets see where this blog takes us!!
